There are, of course, things you can do to help mitigate the circumstances surrounding mold growth. Be on the lookout for any buildup of moisture. When you have a soaked step rug lying outside of the shower, take it outside to dry or put it in the dryer, make sure wet towels and rugs are hung up to dry after they are used, check for water leakage underneath your bathroom and kitchen sinks, and around the toilet.
